Pictures for the Family

This was PJ's first ponytail with a few barettes to hold up the sides. It didn't last long...

Pigtales were then put in and this worked most of the day. It will be nice when her hair gets longer and she is not so wiggley.
Ah, leggings. Also known as Dad's socks.  We decided to help her out after she struggled for about 5 minutes trying to get them on her feet. She then wandered around and made Rick smell his own stinky socks.

Investing

This is our latest investment that cost us free dollars.  Unless, you count the cherry pie.  All we had to do was help move it two houses down, and wipe it clean.  The neighbors are moving and did not want to take it with them again since their kids no longer have need of the playscape. It's been well used and will be great for the time being.

PJ loves it, but is scared of the slides. I don't know why because she uses the big slides everyday at the park without hesitation. I think it is a nice addition where she can stay in a locked yard, and we can just check on her once in a while.

Cappadocia

Our trip to Cappadocia was eventful. And...just so you know the squatty potties were not the most exciting part. They definitely don't care about women and urine splattering on their ankles, or the fact we cannot aim like men.

This is where the road ends and you have to hop on a camel to travel into the city. Luckily, it wasn't a very hot day so neither we or the camel got too stinky.
This is where we started seeing cave dwellings, where people still live.  It's probably considered one of the better places to live because nobody has air conditioning, and the rock walls keep them a little cooler.
This was in the underground city of Nevsehir.  We went with our friends, the Clauses.  This room that we are in is where the missionaries were schooled. There was tons of cool stuff in this city. From wine presses to a good sized baptismal font. They also had a decent ventilation system, which probably helped with the stables being on the first of five levels.

Our guide told us that this city was started to be built around 2000 BC.  It was often used for escapes from raiding enemies coming through, i.e., Ganges Kahn, Arab Sassinids. After a while they caught on though because the above ground city would be empty. I guess the narrow and steep hallways helped with the defense because only one person could charge at a time making for an easy kill.

Very cool place!

Marriage has corrupted my mind, and everybody else around me who was saying the same thing. This is outside Cappadocia in a place called Zelve.

COWGIRL PRINCESS

Toprakkale (Black) Castle

PJ and I went exploring a castle on Friday.  She had a great time, but I had to watch for her falling through holes in the roof/floor, and running off the cliffs.  This picture only shows a small portion of the castle, but on one of the sides the wind was blowing in at an incredible speed.  PJ loved it, but had a hard time standing still.

This castle sits on top of a hill where they were able to see many enemies approaching. Throughout the castle you can find 7 crosses that were carved by crusaders.  

On the grounds you can find random artifacts likes broken pottery, Roman coins, and stuff like that.  We didn't find anything worth salvaging, unfortunately.  We did walk on a lot of sheep poop cigarette pack wrappers left by the shepards and their sheep.  Bathing was necessary when we got home.

I forgot our camera, so when I get those pictures, I'll try to post them. 

Accessories... A MUST!

Fashion faux pas? Not when you're this cute. Sunglasses and bibs that don't match can be worn anytime.  

She is getting really good at putting on sunglasses by herself.
PJ thinks hats are great! Whatever hat she can reach she will wear.
